The MAW, DLC Review

By Arron - February 18, 2009 - 15:08 UTC

From the very outset The MAW has been an instant classic, with its quirky story and casual game play I’m sure it will be a welcome favorite for time to come. Today we saw the release of the first piece of MAW DLC “Brute Force”, and the word on our lips is, “Does it live up to the rest of the games MAWsomeness?”

In a word, yes. The addition of new levels is always a good thing, so long as they are not just spliced versions of other levels. For the MAW this is not true, without going into to much detail the level includes some of the better MAW power ups and fits very well within the story line. Brute force also sees the addition of a new enemy and in comparison is slightly longer than the levels included with the original release.

At the small cost of only 100MS points and a quite easy 15G I don’t see a reason not to pick this little gem up. The game is also set for an additional 2 pieces of DLC at 100MS points each,  it has also been speculated that the final additions will include another 15G and 20G, making for a total achievement gain of 50G.

The Verdict

Pros:

  • Only 100 MS points
  • An easy 15G
  • Fits well with the story
  • Just as fun as the original levels

Cons:

  • A shame that all 3 pieces were not released at once, as a single level only last about 20 min.

8/10
