NPD: November 2009 – Xbox 360 Facts

So, I think it is time I started a monthly ‘fact’ sheet which updates our readers with all the Xbox 360’s achievements. So, without delay, let us jump straight into it:
Fact 1

Pretty unexpected but not a surprise. All through the year it has been hit and miss, as per usual, but in the closing months the Xbox 360 continues routine and pips the PS3 in the fall.

With the Xbox 360’s massive attach rate and with three ‘AAA’ games in just over the last month, it is not a shock to see it has three games in the top five of November.

The Xbox 360’s sales of the game, when compared to the PS3’s, almost caught up with the UK’s 3:1 ratio.
This doesn’t include bundled copies either. Hopefully there will be a full breakdown from Act/Blizz sometime soon.

Year on year, the Xbox 360 continues to gain more an more market share after the Wii’s entry, which itself is falling fast.
Fact 5
“Microsoft says the Turn 10-developed, Xbox 360-exclusive racer Forza Motorsport 3 has topped 1 million units sold worldwide.
The game launched in North America and Europe on October 27 and 23, respectively. Since then, players have logged over 6.6 million collective hours playing online across over 64 million play sessions.”
With only a few days to sell when it dropped in October, it is only fair to include this games first whole month.
Fact 6
Software Sales: “$514 million in Xbox 360 game revenue”
Hardware Sales: “…contributed an additional $324 million”
$838 million. Just… wow.
Fact 7
Game sales for November:
Xbox 360: ~6,000,000
Wii: ~2,000,000
PS3: ~2,100,000
I lost the source for this one but you can bet the figures are roughly sitting around that number.
All in all I think we can agree that November alone has been an amazing month for both gaming and the Xbox 360. This year alone there has been the likes of Forza 3, Left4Dead2, Halo Wars, CoD: MW2, Assassins Creed II, Gay Tony, Shadow Complex, Halo 3: ODST and the like to fill our every need. Next year looks to be better, so much better.
